I previously posted this on Facebook, and forgot to update things here. I visited the wound care doctor on Tuesday. The doctor has now officially referred me back to my surgeon, as the incisional area is still not healed.
As background information, the surgery that started all of this took place on March 24th. The wounds initially closed, but only superficially. Within a week after closing, they burst back open again. The surgeon could not help me, and sent me to wound management.
There is likely one or more stitches left over in my incision that did not dissolve. The fact that my system went through chemo for my Ovarian Cancer does not help things, either. In any case, the wound care doctor said the surgeon will have to open the bad section back up fully to clean it out, and remove any stitches. Right now, I am waiting for a call back so the surgeon can fit me into his schedule.
On a side note, the strike with Verizon is over! While we have to wait some time for a first paycheck to come in, again (payrolls are a week behind), at least we will have some funds coming in. And more importantly, we do not lose our medical insurance! The bad news, though, is the bargaining is not over. Verizon merely decided to start bargaining in good faith, so the unions agreed to work through the bargaining process under the old contract.
