Blog Back Online & Updates

As you may have noticed, my blog is finally back online! There was a hack a few years ago, and there was just too much going on medically to fix it. That was in the end of 2015. A little over 4 years later and it is finally fixed. So much has happened.

For starters, a couple of years ago, Pop Pop’s cancer came back. The lung cancer spread to his brain. It also spread to a wound in his foot. He went through palliative radiation therapy, but on the last day of his 2 week treatment he was not feeling well. He was sent by the nursing home he was at that time in to the hospital. That day he rapidly went from talking to losing most of his function. His brain tumor moved and started pushing his brain aside. We put him on hospice, and he passed shortly after.

Kenzie has seemed to start inheriting quite a few of my medical conditions. Like her sister, she now has Fibromyalgia and migraines, and possibly also Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (getting diagnosed for this now through process of elimination.) She also has a variety of other conditions we have been dealing with, as well.

Brian inherites his family’s diabetic issues. He had a recent emergency that left him hospitalized. He was not watching his sugar well, and stepped on a nail. He didn’t go to the doctor after the nail and got a really bad infection. With the diabetes, it led to a really bad issue. His diabetes is now under better control with both long and short term insulin, pills, and a arm scanner blood meter!

As for me, lots has gone on! They finally figured out the source of my illness: the dialudid! Once I was switched off of it, the nausea and sickness stopped and the bariatric surgery was able to happen. Because of my Lynch Syndrome testing, and my previous Ovarian and Endometrial cancers, the doctors recommended a proactive mastectomy. I had this done in 2017 with the spacers put in during the first surgery. It was very fortunate I did! They found a precancerous lesion in my left breast! From there the next year of my life was filled with reconstructions, contouring and corrections, and tattooing the coloring back in. Well two years actually, because the last surgery was a little over two years after the first one. I had an intrathecal pain pump put in about a year and a half ago. I’ve had a few complications…the pump has flipped upside down twice and has gotten infected after a filling and led to my hospitalization. But overall, the pump has made my life easier. And the medicine I have is derived from snail venom! It’s non addictive and not narcotic! (It’s called Prialt.) I also get a muscle relaxant. Lately I have gone through COVID. And currently, I am scheduled for an appointment today with my one oncology doctor. It was meant to be a 12 month check up, but it seems to be turning into something possibly a lot more…we’ll see how it goes. I hope to update more on this soon.
