I’ve decided to start something new for my blog. New design, new stuff, right? Anyhow, it is getting me kinda upset that breast cancer is so out there with the pink ribbons, and other cancers are never represented! Most cancers have a month and a ribbon color, but we never see them. Before I get a bunch of breast cancer survivors getting upset, no, I am not trying to diminish breast cancer or the pink ribbon. I am the first one to purchase stuff with a pink ribbon on it, knowing that my purchase is helping research and fund mammograms. I even have a pink ribbon debit card! But…the other cancers are not getting enough attention, as a result of the pink madness. I try to help with that by putting the TEAL in your face on my blog and all that. I make buttons: TEAL…It’s The New Pink! 🙂
My mission? Each month I am going to try to highlight cancers for their respective awareness months.
This month’s cancers?
Gallbladder cancer is a rare form of cancer. It usually strikes between the ages of 50 and 60, and is twice as common in men than women. Common symptoms include: abdominal pain, jaundice and vomiting.
Bile Duct Cancer is also rare, with only 2000-3000 new cases in the US each year. Common symptoms include abnormal liver function tests, abdominal pain, jaundice, and weight loss. Other symptoms include generalized itching, fever, and changes in color of stool or urine.
