Cancer Awareness: Lung Leavin’ Day

For any of you that regularly read my blog, you’ll know that although I have ovarian cancer, I make it my mission to spotlight ALL cancers.  I also welcome other cancer stories being shared. Cameron Von St. James shared his caregiver story in January of 2013 (see original post here: Holding On To Hope as a Caregiver.). Cameron’s wife, Heather, is a Mesothelioma survivor. I also posted an update story for Heather, regarding her video work with mesothelioma.com.

I am once again following Heather’s journey, and helping her spread awareness of Mesothelioma. Please check out Heather’s awareness page, about Lung Leavin’ Day. February 2nd marks the 8th anniversary since Heather’s surgery that saved her life, namely removal of her left lung. She uses this day to “to encourage and empower others battling their own illnesses and daily challenges to face their fears!” It’s a day to remember those who have lost the battle to mesothelioma, honor those who are still fighting, and to celebrate life. Heather, Cameron, and their friends and family do not just celebrate online, but also have a special gathering at their home. They all surround a bonfire, write their fears onto plates, and smash them into the fire to represent conquering their fears.
