I’m really behind in posting about this, but I want to get the word out about Provocraft’s newest crafting toy, the Cricut Imagine.
For those of you who are not already Cricut crazy, Cricut machines are electronic cutting systems. Until now, all they could do is cut and write (when you replace the blade for a pen/marker.)
This new Cricut prints as well! They partnered with HP to create this.
Gypsy users: This will work with your Gypsy! Jukebox will also work. The bad news? As of now it will not work with Cricut Deisgn Studio for your PC. However, the Imagine will of course be self sufficient, and you can print and cut with a built in keyboard. All previous Cricut cartridges will also work! (New Cricut Imagine cartridges, however, will NOT work on old Cricuts.) Blades will be cross compatible between the systems. Old mats, however, will not work. These new mats are marked specially for the machine to read it so cutting and printing are accurate. And you will, of course, now need to stock up on ink! (One black and one color cartridge are needed.)
This new product was introduced for purchase on HSN on September 14th. It will be available for purchase elsewhere soon. The MSRP is $499.
**Author’s Note: At the time of moving my blog to the new software, this machine is no longer in production and new cartridges are not being made. In other words, if you have one, and it breaks, you are in trouble! Incidentally, if you see any of these cartridges online or in stores, hoard them now!**
