There was good news and bad news in my email box last night. It was regarding my beloved Cricut Gypsy. Rumors have been flying for a while now. We have been begging and pleading for more features.
The bad news? The Gypsy is no longer going to be manufactured. It WILL still be supported (and apparently repaired. See more here: http://www.cricut.com/home/support/gypsy-repair)
The good news? They are FINALLY offering Gypsy linking in Cricut Craft Room. (For those of you not aware, Cricut Craft Room is the free software to design on your computer before cutting.) While you could purchase cartridges on Cricut.com and have them show up on your Gypsy, until now it did not go the other way. The function has been promised forever, and was advertised last night. This means that all the cartridges you have linked to your Gypsy will be able to be synced with CCR, and you will no longer need the physical cartridge to cut when using it. More about this new feature here: http://www.cricut.com/home/support/gypsy-linking
As an added point of interest, any Gypsy owner who registered will also get an automatic cricut.com digital cartridge credit for $20! This was a bit of an added bonus. Spend it quickly before it goes away!
Happy crafting!
