Just some updates…
Buddy recovered from mono and went back to work! I mean, I’m sure he’s not 100%, but he has been coping.
The next part of this post is about the fact that we seem to have another member in our already large household: my Aunt Sharon. It’s actually been a bit of a roller coaster with her health lately. About a month ago she had two seizures out of the blue in the middle of her church service, and ended up in the ER. She stayed with us a while following that, but went back home and back to work after about a week. This past Wednesday, her co-workers were scared enough that they sent her to the ER again. She was just really disoriented. Now, I’ve been suspecting something is seriously wrong for a while now. I get the impression that perhaps she has a brain tumor or something. It’s not much of a stretch…I have ovarian cancer and she’s my blood aunt. Plus, her mother, my grandmother, had a mysterious hysterectomy. Grandma had lung cancer and was in denial about it, so could she have had ovarian cancer as well and been in denial? Could that be the link that explains my ovarian cancer? And if it’s at an advanced stage in my aunt, it could explain a mass on the brain that is disorienting her. Anyhow, she ended up in the ER again yesterday and they admitted her. In just a few short days she went from sort of having her wits about her to not knowing the day, month, or even year. (Apparently it’s a Tuesday in June somewhere in the 1990’s.) She needs help with basic things like going to the bathroom. And the hospital saw something on the CT scan, and they are going to do an MRI today, so I think my tumor theory might be right. At this point, I don’t see her going back to her own house again, as she needs someone to care for her.
As for me, I’m still ill, and not much has changed. It’s been over 16 weeks. I did test negative for mono, so that was good. I ended up in the ER about 2 weeks ago with chest pain, and it ended up being muscular, I guess. Other than that, the sleep drama continues. They cannot find a proper sleep medicine. I started on everything OTC, from melatonin to Tylenol PM, to just straight sleep meds. Then started the prescriptions: Rozerem, then Ambien, then Lunesta. None of them worked. I start a new one soon, Resteril. (There is a problem getting it though, so I have to wait til Monday until they contact my doctor.) I see my gyn/onc on Wednesday, so we’ll where the cancer stuff goes.
