First off, I will give updates on my Aunt Sharon. So far, the good news is that there does not seem to be a tumor. The bad news is she has a clot/blockage in her brain. This clot is causing continuous strokes. Because of the specific location in her brain, it is inoperable. All they can do is give her blood thinners and hope it goes away. (Which is kinda like needing stitches but only having a band-aid, and hoping the bleeding stops.) She went in a few days from being maybe a bit dizzy but totally lucid, to having the mental capacity of a kindergartener, as my daughter puts it. She needs help with everything, even walking and going to the bathroom. One major part of her brain that is damaged is the part that processes what she sees. So her vision is perfect, but her brain can’t process that information properly. She is still in the hospital, and at this point I don’t even think she will end up being able to live with us. If she ever leaves the hospital (which her health is failing to the point that I really don’t see that happening) then she will likely have to be put in a nursing care facility. At this point, we are in the process of getting her stuff in order. We have to get the ability to control her finances since she is unable, so her bills and taxes and stuff can be paid. We also have to get medical proxy so we can make medical decisions on her behalf, because she is not capable of understanding. My dad and brother and I are her only real relatives under the circumstances. So, it’s a real stressful time right now. I feel even worse because my own ailment is preventing me from visiting her. Sierra is making a lot of time to see her, and even had me give her money to buy her flowers in the gift shop from the family. I pray that she gets better, but also have to trust that perhaps it is all in God’s plan. If it is her time to go, it is her time to go.
As for me, I went to the oncologist yesterday, Still nothing is showing on the ct scan. *sigh* I will see him again in six months. I am just so tired of being sick, and not knowing what to do to fix it! I saw the pain specialist today, and no medication changes are being made for now.
Hopefully there will be more updates to come. If not, I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving!
