More updates and other stuff

Me: Well, I just spent the last part of Sunday, and most of the overnight portion into Monday, in the emergency room. It started out as sharp pains in my right side early Sunday morning. I had just traveled with my parents and Sierra to pit-stop at my brother’s house. We were just going to go to his church, and then heading on to a baby shower for my close friend. My mom suggested going to the hospital then, but I tried to tough it out in so I would not miss the shower later. However, I was a bit scared because these pains were happening despite the fact that I had taken painkillers like an hour earlier (for my foot.) My thoughts were “If this is what it feels like ON the meds, how would this be feeling without them?” At church, I kinda was really dizzy and almost passed out a few times. We got to the shower, and I muddled through as best as I could.

Finally, we left, and headed back the hour and a half drive back home. My husband was waiting as soon as we arrived with the car ready to transport me to the hospital. It took a bit for a bed to open in the emergency room, but I ended up finally getting in and heading for CT Scan. (Again, as I had already had one on this past Tuesday and also had thyroid uptake scans through Wednesday and Thursday. Getting to that in a bit.)

Testing actually revealed a urinary tract infection (fun!) And also, since the pain is occurring in the general area of the location of my adrenal mass, they are having me see my surgeon ASAP.

While I was there, they also got the results of my thyroid scans and found out I have Grave’s Disease.  Lovely! *LOL* Just one more illness to add to my arsenal.

Buddy: Well Buddy went to the doctor to go over the results of the x-ray he got. The news is not so good. The doctor confirmed he has scoliosis, but wery minor (5% deviation). But, incidentally, they found out he has spina bifida (occulta)! He will be seeing a pediatric orthopedic surgeon to figure out where we go from there.

Other Stuff: As mentioned before, I went to my friend’s baby shower. She is due very soon. 🙂 Everything went well, and I made a diaper cake for her present (which will be posted, with instructions, very soon.)

Brian and I also went to an American Cancer Society Relay For Life leader seminar Friday through Saturday. It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot of things that might be implemented into our local Relay. (Bethlehem, PA)
