So I figured I’d post a non-medical life update. I am posting this from a new laptop. No, this was not a planned purchase, and I grumbled all the way to Best Buy this past weekend to fork over my debit card to use money I did not want to use. Because of my illness that has kept me in bed since July, my laptop is my online lifeline to the real world, as well as a way to keep on top of jobs maintaining web sites for myself as well as others.
So, on Sunday, I had my laptop next to my bed in my laptop backback. Somehow, the backpack opened and tipped over, spilling the laptop on the floor. And then, Kenzie came up to bring me some lunch, and inadvertently stepped on the laptop! I went to open the laptop (I keep it on constant standby), and go to use it after lunch. Well, half the screen was broken and whited out, and the other unresponsive. So I rebooted it, and what do you know: hard drive failure, too. And, of course, I forgot to do a recent backup! I mean, I know I wished for a touchscreen laptop at some point, but this laptop was only about a year old! So, because of the lack of recent backups, and a LOT of recent design work done, I had to also fork over extra cash in the hopes that Best Buy’s Geek Squad could salvage the data off of the hard drive. *ugh*
2014 is SO not starting out well.
