Twins! — Another Diaper Cake and other stuff

I have not posted one of my craft projects in a while, so I decided now was the time. I went to my childhood friend’s baby shower a little while ago, before I had my surgery. As typical, I decided to break out the craft supplies! After making a boy themed diaper cake (also featured on this blog), I was excited to make a girl themed one…for twins! Of course, this also involved making little decorations to go along with it.

Materials/equipment used for diaper cake:

  • Diapers – 66 used
  • Elastic bands to secure the diapers (1 find it better to use clear hair elastics to secure each rolled diaper; you then need other bigger elastics to secure the layers)
  • Package of receiving blankets (Girl’s Winnie The Pooh 3 pack used here)
  • Platter for bottom of cake
  • Travel pack of Johnsons & Johnsons baby items
  • Ribbon
  • Feeding spoons
  • Stuffed animals for topper (normally I use one, but I used two hugging for the “twins” theme!)
  • Bottles: 1 full size and 1 small (used for center of cake to make it more stable; these will be entirely hidden)
  • Misc Decorations (I used little “charms” typically used for favors to accent and around necks of giraffes for pacifiers; also used pink rhinestone accent stickers to add bling to ribbon on middle tier)

I used multiples of the above tag to accent the sides of the diaper cake (two used, not viewable in photo of cake). It was also used to decorate the gift basket I made, as well.

Materials/equipment used for tags:

  • Cricut Machine (I could not get to my Expression, so I used my daughter’s original Cricut)
  • Gypsy (not necessary, though)
  • Cricut “New Arrival” cartridge
  • Paper (pink Bazzill textured cardstock for pink hearts; I’m not sure what the word “twins” was cut with…)
  • Two Prima flowers; 1 larger, 1 small – with a brad used to secure
  • Ribbon

I also decided to make the card. I kept up with the “twins” theme, and used the same lettering from the tags. To further illustrate the concept of twins, I used the two onesies, side by side.

Materials/equipment used for card:

  • Cricut Machine
  • Gypsy
  • Cricut “New Arrival” cartridge
  • Imaginisce i-Rock setter; used pink metallic stone to accent the “i” in “twins”
  • Studio G pre-cut blank scalloped cards with envelopes
  • Ribbon
  • Assorted paper

If I get enough requests, I took pictures this time constructing the cake. I can post a visual to help others who want help making diaper cakes! 🙂
