Well, I’m getting a little bit better at the updating. 🙂
Foot:Â After not really getting anywhere with the orthopedic doctors, I took my dad’s advice and decided to see his friend Ray, who is a podiatrist. I think I am finally going in the right direction! Dr. Ray gave me a cortizone injection in my faulty tendon. He also gave me arch supports for my sneakers that seem to be helping a bit. A brace was given to me as a backup, but only after I had given walking without one a shot for a few days. My ankle kept popping, so I did end up needing it. However, it is hands down the best ankle brace I have gotten so far!!! I also saw my new pain management doctor. His belief is that the chemo probably permanently damages some of my nerves, and that does make sense. This doctor gave me some pain meds, and a topical pain gel to rub into the ankle. These meds combined with the stuff from Dr. Ray’s foot brace and arch supports are making a difference. (The meds are making me loopy and sick, though. But, I think I just need to get used to them!) And the talk at the office was possibly getting me a home electric stim machine!
Thyroid:Â I did the follow-up blood work, and it was not a mistake. The doctor said my numbers are very high, and he’s very concerned. I am being sent for a thyroid uptake scan next week to get to the bottom of this. (The doctor said it was to determine the level of disease to my thyroid.) Not looking good…
Other misc medical:Â I saw my primary care doctor this past week, as well. Luck was obviously with me when I picked him out. Would you believe he is my first doctor that actually made sure I got both the flu and pneumonia vaccines? I did get a flu shot last year, but that was in the hospital. The year before I should have gotten it, because of my health, but I slipped through the cracks. Well, the pneumonia vaccine protects me until I am 65, so that is one worry off my mind. Next misc medical concerns involve getting a CT scan to take another peek at my adrenal tumor. That should be this month, and then I also get to check in with my oncologist and surgeon.
Sierra:Â We just had her birthday party yesterday, and she finally had enough to get her new netbook! Uncle Fred will pick it up for her today.
Kenzie:Â She will be having surgery on her eye on Tuesday. Just as a refresher for those who have forgotten, she had two lazy eyes that were corrected by surgery last year. Well, the one eye was over-corrected, unfortunately. So this surgery will hopefully repair the over-correction. Keep her in your prayers as she goes in!
Buddy:Â He has been having back pains lately. Would you believe an x-ray picked up very minor scoliosis? He will be seeing a physical therapist soon.
